It's possible yes, but you'd need to make sure that you're using it with 1/2" chain since this is a 1/2" rated adjuster. Also this is G63 Stainless, so make sure not to exceed its rating of 9,300 lbs.
Can this be used as a chain slip/grab, Used as slipping down a chain to grab at a lower point. We use something similar to retrieve pumps at the bottom of lift stations, We let it slide down the chain to a lower point as not to over extend the boom on our work truck.
