I cannot tell you that it is or is not advisable. What I can tell you is that swaged normally requires a larger drum or sheave size compared to regular cable. In fact, the manufacturers of swaged cable want to see a drum diameter that is 20x or even 30x the wire rope diameter, but that is not feasible in many applications, such as yours. Long story short, it may perform just fine and we do have customer using swaged cable on winches and drums, but your mileage may vary. It is undeniably stiffer that regular cable, which makes it tougher to spool in some aspects. At the same time, its smooth profile helps it lay better and last longer once on the drum.
