Hi William,
The simple and most honest answer to this question is that no, Crosby nor any other manufacturer will sign off on or otherwise approve modification to one of their parts. Their research and design efforts are based on the product configured as is. That said, this might be something you can do safely with the help of a qualified rigger and engineer, but the onus will be on you/your company at that point. I realize this might not be the answer you want, but hopefully this is helpful in determining the proper course of action.
