I've got an old 7ton National Crane rig w/approx 4.5" spool drum; will this stiffer cable handle that tight spooling?

We can't say for certain, but there's a good chance. Swaged cable is stiffer because it's compacted. It is dense and weighs more per foot than regular cable, which is why it's stronger, but also why it may not spool well on a smaller drum.
