While we cannot test every pair of bolt cutters on the market, we have done our own in-house (non-scientific) testing, and published various YouTube videos.Using high-quality 42" bolt cutters mounted to a floor stand to provide maximum leverage, we were unable to cut or even significantly damage chains of this size.We state confidently that the security chains we sell that are 3/8" (10mm) and larger generally cannot be defeated by common bolt cutters. The chain manufacturers have also done their own testing with the same results. Powered tools of any sort are a completely different thing. Given enough time, a grinder, torch or similar tool will get through just about any chain we can think of that is a practical size (14mm and smaller).
