It will indeed cut common 5/8" wire rope (6x19, 6x25, 6x36) etc. We are not familiar with a 5/8" diameter 7x19, but it may exist. This cutter should be up to the challenge, however we recommend the 22-HCC30N because it's smaller, lighter and will require less pumping of the handle to make the cut, yet it's still rated for up to 1-1/8" cable.
