Generally speaking, I would say any kind of premature wear is not common. We actually have two of these units in our shop we use for odd jobs, and they've been used hundreds, perhaps thousands of times. Aside from some occasional tightening, lubing and general maintenance, I'm not aware of any issues. That said, I did reach out to the mfg. for feedback. We will let you know what they say.
