The Viro locks are generally of higher quality, made in Italy with first-class craftsmanship (if comparing to the 4153 Viro lock for example, you can see the long list of features here). The Laclede locks are imported and essentially represent a good value, with looser quality control. That said, the Laclede locks have performed quite well, with a defective unit occasionally found here or there. If you're the type that wants the best, get Viro or Abus. If you're the type that wants a good value, go with Laclede.
