According to the latest ANSI Z359 standard, both Carabiners and Snap Hooks must have minimum gate strengths of 3600 lbs. That means that if a strong load is applied to the gate face, it will hold up to 3600 lbs. This is not a new rule, yet was a major increase of the previous standard that required a gate face load tolerance of only 220 lbs, and a side load tolerance of 350 lbs.
